Virginia Tech® home

New technologies and global competition are forcing all organizations, large and small, to change. Accordingly, investments in the educating, training, and retraining the workforce will have profound effects on the future of local and global economies. As one of the nation's leaders in applied research, with nationally ranked programs in engineering, architecture and urban planning, the sciences, health care, and business, Virginia Tech is uniquely qualified to lead in the development of leaders, organizations, and communities.

Virginia Tech established the Center for Organizational and Technological Advancement in 1994 to foster best practices and innovation across professions and sectors - business, industry, K-12 and post-secondary education, government, and nonprofit.

Our leadership and team development programs are based on the competencies necessary to build and maintain results-driven organizations. Today's professional must be capable of leading change and people, generating results, managing human, financial, and information resources strategically, facilitating cooperation and teamwork, and deploying technical knowledge and skills effectively.

The Center team develops public and contract programs for delivery at the historic Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center (HRCC) in Roanoke, Virginia. The hotel and conference center is an example of a campus-community partnership between Virginia Tech and the City of Roanoke.

The Center also administers a small grant program to support program development and conferences at the HRCC.
